The last few years have been such a whirlwind of amazing experiences for my company and I. Professionally; we’ve had the opportunity to work with some amazingly talented people. We worked with Drake and OVO to produce Drake’s 28th Birthday dinner. (Here, here and here are some previews of our party from his instagram page). We’ve been working together on events ever since, including an event we produced in Houston Texas!
We designed the most talked about (and celebrity-attended) GRAMMY AFTER PARTY of 2016 for GQ which celebrated The Weeknd’s birthday as well as his 2 grammy wins! Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Diddy, DJ Khaled, Chris Brown, and Zendaya were all in attendance (to name a few) Diplo and Skrillex DJ’d. It was definitely a career highlight.
On the corporate event’s side of the business, we worked with INSTAGRAM HQ, REEBOK, RONDA ROUSEY, VEUVE CLICQUOT, FUTURE, LACOSTE, UNIQLO, MOMOFUKU, and GUERLAIN.
Our wedding clients, Michael Cammalleri, of the New Jersey Devils and his wife Jennifer’s wedding at the ROM was published in Wedluxe Magazine. Grace Ormonde Wedding Style Magazine showcased our design and planning for Mikhael Grabovski of the New York Islanders to his lovely wife Kate. And, the wedding we produced for Kris Versteeg of the Chicago Blackhawks and his gorgeous wife Britt was featured in print here. We even helped Teddy Purcell of the Edmonton Oilers celebrate his 30th Birthday. Most definitely a wedding highlight was Roberto Alomar’s wedding on 12-12-12 which made Hello Magazine’s list of The Most Romantic Celebrity Weddings Of The Year. Check their wedding video!
We shared our expertise when we hosted The Marilyn Denis Show alongside Randy Fenoli of Say Yes to the Dress and Steven and Chris aired our tips for styling garden-themed baby and bridal showers on their television show.
And we were able to give a little back to the community when we were brought on board to produce Fashion Blows! We transformed the iconic flagship Hudson’s Bay Company into the most fashion-focused gala in the city and the National Post actually named it one of the best events of the year. Finally, we capped off the year by taking home the Canadian Wedding Award for Best Luxury Event Design.
Personally – I won an award from my alma mater, McMaster University which acknowledge the achievements of 5 alumni per year who have made exceptional accomplishments in their lives and careers since graduation. I was beyond honored and delighted to hear the stories of all the other recipients. I found time to travel all over the world – Paris, Bali, Thailand, Mexico, Hong Kong, Cayman Islands…. picking up inspirations wherever I can.
But, perhaps my most favorite project of all – was creating THIS! I have been working (for what seems like forever) on a brand new interactive site where I can share a blend of my professional and personal life with touches of what’s “ behind-the-scenes” at MAE. A place for my most fresh updates. The past 8 years growing Melissa Andre Events have been overwhelming but unbelievably rewarding as well. While elbow-deep in all things design-related, I also received hundreds of emails, direct messages, and phone calls for brunch recommendations in Los Angeles, my ‘must-have’ beauty products, what hotels I like to stay in when I visit Paris, and hundreds of questions on being a young entrepreneur. Since my team is now a little bit bigger, and a lot bit stronger, I felt it the perfect time to launch an online space to share my personal thoughts, my team’s newest collaborations and our forever-updating portfolio.
