We have a special treat today! The incredible videographers from Cloud Nine Creative captured our couple Kasia & Brett’s special day perfectly in this same day edit. This chic, stripy, black, white and green affair took place on the beautiful Malaparte rooftop – one of our very favourite venues with an unbeatable city view! Click the link below to watch the romance unfold before your eyes!
Leslie and Jose met and fell in love on a cruise ship – so it only made sense to tie the nautical motif into their wedding. This wedding was all about the little details – from the personalized compass place settings to anchors and rope used throughout the space – The Granite Club ballroom was totally transformed and guests felt as though they were dining at sea! Photography by 5ive15ifteen Photo Company.
One of our favourite venues in the city is the Distillery District’s Fermenting Cellar. It serves as a blank canvas where the sky is the limit when it comes to what elements you can introduce for a truly spectacular event.
Jennifer and Kent were married last fall and hosted a reception in the Fermenting Cellar that was dripping with romance and glamour.
We’ve got an extra special video to share today! Julia and Kieran’s wedding at the Royal Conservatory of Music was so beautiful and is perfectly captured in this highlight film from Honey & Dear.
We’re still dreaming about their sweet table which was piled high with an ombré pink ruffled wedding cake, customized chocolate bars, french macarons and of course, pink champagne! Take a look:
Pop-in the classic ’50s film Funny Face starring Audrey Hepburn and get inspired !
It’s time to raise your hemlines ladies; tea-length bridal gowns are back on the rise and we at Melissa Andre Events couldn’t be happier about it. There is something so darling, so flirtatious, and yet so fashion-forward about a tea-length bridal gown. We can’t help but imagine pairing a bride wearing this style with a garden-party themed soiree; an outdoor ceremony and reception, scrumptious miniature desserts (think teeny-tiny cupcakes, meringue-cookies, and powdered beignets), guests playing croquet and carrying parasols, and tea served from china cups
Not ready for total tea-length style? Not a problem ! Many of our brides opt for a traditional length gown during the ceremony and change into something shorter to dance-the-night-away during the reception. Pictured below you’ll find shots from a ’50s inspired shoot we styled (note how our bride wore both a shorter length bridal gown) ! You can see even more gorgeous photos of this bridal style at http://melissaandre.com/galleries/grace-james
Oh! One last piece of advice, be sure to splurge on a fabulous pair of heels because with a tea-length gown they are guaranteed to be in full view !
Who could forget the custom pink Monique Lhuillier gown that Reese Witherspoon donned during her nuptials to Jim Toth? Ready to score your very own ? We were (literally) tickled pink to find several blush-coloured gowns amongst Monique Lhuillier’s newest (2012) collection! Lhuillier’s pink gowns are defiantly feminine, yet still subtle, romantic and sweet. Take a browse through her rosy selection and help us pick a favorite!
We LOVE the fact that designers are incorporating more colors into their collections AND applaud brides who are willing to go beyond tradition and select gowns that are statements of their colorful selves! Not quite ready to jump off the deep end with this colourful trend? No problem! An adorable alternative is opting for a coloured sash (think Kloe Kardashian’s lavender sash atop her Vera Wang bridal gown).

There is never a better reason to gather the girls then for a fun and fabulous (cute-as-can-be) high tea ! Whether we have become inspired by the recent royal nuptials (or maybe we’re simply regressing back to our girlhood days) we are loving the idea of tea party themed soirees for everything from bridal showers, birthday parties, or simple Sunday afternoons.
When our oh-so-sweet client Alana approached us about planning something extra special for her Mother on Mother’s Day, we were delighted to execute an adorable 12-person high tea fete ! We decked their home with oversized balloons, gingham napkins and lovely white lounge furniture. Mother and daughter duos spent the afternoon sipping aromatic loose leaf teas and munching mini sandwiches (from Loic Gourmet), pastel coloured French macaroons, fresh baked cupcakes, and scrumptious bite sized meringues (all from Bobbette and Belle).
Tea parties have a way of transforming even the most typical afternoon into an elegant affair. Hopefully we have inspired you to gather your ladies and host your very own !

I wanted to post some photos of Zarine + George’s gorgeous wedding at Steamwhistle Brewery in Toronto. I love that we opted out of a traditional wedding cake in exchange for a cookie buffet made by the groom’s family. Flowers were by the always fabulous Pink Twig http://www.pinktwig.ca/ Photos by the super talented Mango Studios www.mangostudios.com, Catering by 10tation Event Catering, http://www.10tation.com/, Bride’s hair and makeup as well as planning by me www.melissaandre.com
I was so lucky to see Zarine again a few months later at another wedding I planned for Claire! Is she not just about the prettiest bride you have ever seen?
Enjoy!

This adorable little Sunday wedding was one of my favorites this year! Tracy and Matt are truly one of the sweetest couples I have ever met and I had such an amazing team! Complete with traditional Persian ceremony and knife dance, this wedding was not only gorgeous, but fun! It all took place at the always wonderful Auberge du Pommier, http://www.oliverbonacini.com/Auberge-du-Pommier.aspx, Flowers were by Bloom, http://www.bloomtheflowercompany.com/, and as well as planning, I also created Tracy’s hair and makeup looks during the day and again in the evening! a giant thank-you to the super talented Mango Studios for these photos. www.mangostudios.com As always, they such a gorgeous job on these and i really do recommend them to everyone looking for a talented photo studio.
Enjoy the photos!

If I had to hand out an award for my most stylish bride of 2010 – it would be to Ms. Jordana…. Make that MRS. Jordana. Her wedding to the ever-so-sweet Dave took place at the Royal Conservatory of Music on Bloor street this August 2010 and needless to say – it was nothing but stunning. (RCM is actually one of my favourite venues in the city for a wedding at the moment. it is really stunning)
The first time I met Jordana at the giant Chapters on John + Richmond, I instantly knew we would get along famously. After speaking with her for about 2 minutes I knew she’d make it to my list of favourite brides of all time. And by the time our meeting was over, I was wondering if it would be a little forward of me to invite her to dinner that night at Blowfish with a few of my girlfriends. Any bride stylish enough to opt out of a traditional wedding gown for a black, yellow and white Gucci dress would of course know how important wedding details are and I am certain that guests left the wedding with the fondest memories of the day. The dress set the colour scheme for the rest of the entire wedding – Crisp White with shades of lemonade yellow.
See below for some photos of the bridal party. Could they be any more stunning? And I promise they were this gorgeous before I did their makeup. (www.melissaandre.com) I had the most wonderful time with this amazing group of girls and guy pre-wedding listening to stories about beautiful baby Scarlett, shopping for the perfect wedding shoe, and the insane search all over the world for Jordana’s nearly IMPOSSIBLE-to-find wedding gown.
Bridesmaids: Nicole, Lauren, and Sarah + one of Jordana’s best friends Jason spent the morning eating the most delicious mini sandwiches and fresh fruit prepared by Couture Cuisine and relaxing before their photo shoot. Couture Cuisine actually catered the entire wedding (http://www.couture-cuisine.com/). They really are, in my opinion, the best caterers in Toronto. 360 Multimedia captured the day with their lovely photography. Each guest was served their own gorgeous 2-tiered mini wedding cake for dessert – made by the talented Bakerbots (http://www.bakerbotsbaking.com/) Flowers were designed by the experts at Stemz (http://stemz.ca/) And Guests continued to be spoiled as the night went on by a Milk and Cookie Buffet -expertly coordinated in shades of white and yellow!!
I am very much looking forward to working on Jordana’s sister’s wedding this coming July 2011 at the Hyatt and seeing them all really really soon!
I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do! Melissa xo
(p.s. Jason Nip thanks for being such a fabulous photographer as well that day and taking some of these amazing shots)
For all of my flower loving brides – this post is for you!
If Roses are the flower of Love – then how could anyone now Love these centerpieces and wedding decor?
In the girliest of hues – shades of pink and champagne – these arrangements are completely romantic.
When I first met Farah & Phillip I KNEW their wedding would be a FUN one! They met while working on a cruise ship and one might even say– It was Love at First Sight! Farah is an outstanding singer and dancer. It is no wonder she was practically irresistible to him. Phillip is a phenomenal cook and an absolute charmer. They are literally made for one another. They bonded over their love of wine, travel, food, and music and celebrated their wedding on May 30th 2010 at the always beautiful Graydon Hall Manor in Toronto.
Right at the start of our most busy wedding planning season to date – these two brought a constant wave of energy that was refreshing and so memorable….. and that doesn’t include their beautiful BRIDAL PARTY! Their crew of professional singers, dancers, poets, and actresses were the absolute life of the party. I don’t think I saw them sit down for even one song. Melissa Andre – Celebrate.Beauty. also brought our hair and makeup team along for the energetic ride and I think they all look stunning!
The gorgeous florals were done by the talented Mirella at Rainflower (Mirella actually took some of these photos as well so I have to credit her as an amateur photographed for this post!)
The wine and “cheese” cake was by Cakeatiers – it was so delicious. ( http://www.cakeatiers.com/) Professional photos by Charles Wong at Fotodio http://www.fotodio.ca/
Again a big thank-you to Bryn at Graydon Hall and Couture Cuisine http://www.couture-cuisine.com/ for all their hard work and beautiful results!
Enjoy!

This summer, I had the PLEASURE of spending a gorgeous wedding day working with some of the sweetest photographers in Toronto – Geminie Photography! (http://geminie.ca/) If you’re looking for a great team to work with – definitely check them out. Geminie did a fantastic job of making sure that all of the special touches the bride and groom added to their day were photographed in detail. As a planner, there is nothing better than seeing a beautiful couple’s story told so well through a set of photographs.
I love the adorable wedding favours the bride and groom gave away to their guests!
The wedding took place at the beautiful Thompson Landry Gallery in the Historical Distillery District. The most unique thing about this venue is that it’s an art gallery and all of the art must stay in the space during the wedding. Lucky for us, the gallery was filled with such gorgeous pieces it was our pleasure to keep everything in the space just the way it was! http://www.thompsonlandry.com/
Enjoy!

On June 6th of this year I had the pleasure of working with the most sweet, thoughtful, and funny couple on their perfect wedding – Naomi & Simon. When I met their complete bridal party at the Rehearsal, I instantly knew it was going to be a memorable day! Naomi wore a gorgeous dress with raspberry coloured details and we celebrated their union at the always beautiful Graydon Hall (www.graydonhall.com) A big THANK YOU to Bryn for being so fabulous to work with! The bride & groom had breakfast and got ready for the ceremony in separate rooms of the manor but at about 9:30 AM, after I had finished Naomi’s timeless hair and makeup look, her dress was completely laced in the back, and all the finishing touches were in place, they saw one another for the first time that day and it was perfect. They were the perfect combination of excited yet calm. It was a beautiful unveiling.
Firefly Studios did a wonderful jobs on the images (www.fireflyphotostudios.ca), Life Is Sweet made the most amazing and delicious mini cupcakes (www.lifeissweet.ca), The amazing florals – Red Peonies, Orange Orchids, and more – were by Wild Thyme (www.wildthyme.ca). Couture Cuisine (www.couture-cuisine.com) prepared breakfast for the bridal party, and an amazing brunch for the guests complete with an espresso bar and the most delicious Belgian Waffles anyone has ever tasted!
Thanks to everyone for making this such a wonderful day and warm CONGRATULATIONS to NAOMI & SIMON!!
Enjoy! Melissa

2010 was a year of firsts for us at Melissa Andre – Celebrate.Beauty. We left our PCs for MACs… We moved to an adorable little penthouse with an amazing view of the CN Tower… and we planned and designed our first Monday wedding
When Miriam first contacted me about her May 24th wedding I immediately knew it would be a match made in planner/bride heaven. We would meet for the best planning power lunches on king street and trade wedding advice for legal advice (Miriam of course being a lawyer). After I met her fiance Eli i was even more thrilled about working on their wedding. Thanks to http://www.eclipsephotography.com/ and www.flowerparade.ca for their work on this gorgeous wedding!
I am looking forward to many more power lunches on King Street with Miriam…. with and without the wedding chats!

Monica was married in December 2009 and I had the honour of being part of her beautiful wedding day. People always ask me how they can pull off the perfect red lip – well, THIS is how! She looks like Snow White before the poison apple situtation!
Monica’s intimate ceremony was the best way to kick off the holiday season and on TOP of being one of the most gorgeous brides I have ever had the pleasure of working with – she is the sweetest!
I’m looking forward to seeing her AGAIN this fall as I work on her good friend Denise’s wedding!

I first met Carly at her King west town home and we quickly bonded over Michael Jackson videos and the idea of the birdcage veil. we looked through photos of her sister Cam’s beach wedding and talked through the details of hers!
Spending the day in Muskoka with this colourful and beautiful bridal party was the perfect way to spend a Saturday in August and this is definitely a bride I love to keep in touch with! Of course we had to create a hair and makeup look as gorgeous as the dress Carly chose to compliment the venue! I created a hair and makeup look that did the same!
Here are some photos of Carly and her sister and maid of honour Cam before the ceremony.
